Craft day for Deovolente Kids!

Golden Key International Honour Society: Craft Day 2007!!

Being Golden Key community service director this year has been super tough.

Lots of hard work and administration. But in the end, it’s events like this that make it worth it! We held a craft day for the creche kids at my parent’s house in Germiston. This is the third year in a row that we’ve held an event for the kids. It’s always great to get them out of the township to a place where they can run around like mad and have a great afternoon.

They spent most of the day finger painting, beading, drawing, colouring in, making macaroni necklaces, using potato prints to make pictures and running around. They ate a (supremely unhealthy, I’m sorry to say!) lunch, and had a ball. We also managed to buy some craft materials for their teacher Martie to take back to the school with her. The Bead School in Rosebank sent a lady, Zoe, to teach the six year olds how to make beaded jewellery – free of charge. It was very much appreciated! What a great day, despite being thoroughly exhausted!

It was made even more wonderful by incredibly enthusiastic Golden Key committee and sub committee members. Thanks guys! For more photographs click on this link: Beautiful Day.
